Legend or Key for Strategic Plan Table

Workplace Disputes Section

To organize the needs expressed by the members during the October 28, 1998 meeting, we have identified three tracks or subject areas. They include:

    1. Starting a program;
    2. Building/improving a program; and
    3. Policy/sharing resources.

Although the tracks are organized this way, we encourage all participants to attend as many sessions from as many tracks as they can.

Every quarter, each track will include a session with:

    1. a panel of speakers,
    2. a training or caucus; and
    3. an interactive workshop.

The Panel will be first in the schedule and will explain the "what" aspect of an issue; the training will detail the "how" aspect, while the interactive workshop will detail the "why" on a particular issue. The interactive workshops will explore many of the specific issues raised during the needs assessment and will also address various solutions to those issues. The caucus will group a number of similarly situated agencies and explore ways to share resources.

Each sessions length will be determined by the content of the issue to be addressed and may vary from 2-3 hours to one full day. All sessions will be scheduled on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday whenever possible.

All member wishing to attend a training session or interactive workshops will be required to sign-up in advance so that class size can be regulated and the number of instructors can be determined well in advance.

In addition to the above processes used to help inform members about ADR, the Section will also assemble a number of resources or products that all members may use. These include the following:

  1. Agency evaluation reports on their ADR programs
  2. Agency policy statements
  3. ADR program marketing materials
  4. Brochure(s) on the benefits of ADR techniques
  5. Certification criteria for mediators
  6. Sample ADR budgets from agencies
  7. Training and program materials
  8. ADR program design book(s)
  9. List(s) of resources and websites.
