The Atlanta HIDTA region comprises Barrow, Bartow, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett and Henry Counties, in Georgia, and Durham, Johnston, Wake, Wayne, and Wilson Counties, in North Carolina.

Atlanta is a major city with a population over 250,000.

Chattanooga, Tennessee; and Athens and Columbus, Georgia are major cities with populations between 100,000 and 249,999.

Dalton, Gainesville, Roswell, Sandy Springs, Jonesboro, and Macon, Georgia are major cities with populations between 75,000 and 99,999.

Atlanta is an international airport.

The interstates are I-16, I-20, I-24, I-59, I-75, I-85, I-185, I-285, I-575, and I-985.

The U.S. highways are routes 23 and 76.

Route 5 is a state highway.

The Atlanta Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) contains the 12 Georgia counties in the Atlanta HIDTA: Barrow, Bartow, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett and Henry. The Atlanta MSA also includes the following 16 counties: Butts, Carroll, Coweta, Dawson, Haralson, Heard, Jasper, Lamar, Meriwether, Newton, Paulding, Pickens, Pike, Rockdale, Spalding, and Walton.

Raleigh is a major city with a population over 250,000.

Durham and Fayetteville are major cities with populations between 100,000 and 249,999.

Cary, Rocky Mount, and Greenville are major cities with populations between 55,000 and 99,999.

Raleigh-Durham is an international airport.

The interstates are I-40, I-85, I-95, I-440, and I-540.

The U.S. highways are routes 1, 64, 70, 74, and 264.

The Raleigh Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) includes the following 3 counties: Franklin, Johnston, and Wake. From these 3 counties, Franklin is identified as a Raleigh Metropolitan Statistical Area County. The other two counties, Johnston and Wake, are identified as counties within the Atlanta HIDTA region. Additional North Carolina counties in the Atlanta HIDTA region are Durham, Wilson, and Wayne.
