FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE VAW WEDNESDAY, APRIL 5, 1995 (202) 616-0189 TDD (202) 514-1888 NEW VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN DIRECTOR TO MAKE ANNOUNCEMENTS ON SEXUAL OFFENDER POLICY Bonnie Campbell, Director of the Department of Justice's Office of Violence Against Women, will hold a press conference tomorrow to make two announcements concerning the Administration's efforts to deal with the problem of sexual predators and child molesters. Campbell is expected to make announcements regarding the 1994 Crime Bill's Jacob Wetterling Act, under which states must establish registration requirements for child molesters and sexual predators. She will also discuss the Department's participation in the New Jersey "Megan's Law" case, where a similar statute is facing a constitutional challenge. Campbell will be joined by Faith Hochberg, U.S. Attorney for New Jersey, who is involved in the Department's efforts in the Megan's Law case. The press conference will be Ms. Campbell's first public event since she was named to her post at the White House two weeks ago.
