              NEW VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN DIRECTOR
TO MAKE ANNOUNCEMENTS ON SEXUAL OFFENDER POLICY

Bonnie Campbell, Director of the Department of Justice's
Office of Violence Against Women, will hold a press conference
tomorrow to make two announcements concerning the Administration's
efforts to deal with the problem of sexual predators and child
molesters.

Campbell is expected to make announcements regarding the 1994
Crime Bill's Jacob Wetterling Act, under which states must establish
registration requirements for child molesters and sexual predators.
She will also discuss the Department's participation in the New Jersey
"Megan's Law" case, where a similar statute is facing a constitutional
challenge.

Campbell will be joined by Faith Hochberg, U.S. Attorney for New
Jersey, who is involved in the Department's efforts in the Megan's Law
case.

The press conference will be Ms. Campbell's first public event
since she was named to her post at the White House two weeks ago.
