    MARK BOSTER SELECTED AS DEPUTY ASSISTANT ATTORNEY GENERAL
               FOR INFORMATION RESOURCES MANAGEMENT


     WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Assistant Attorney General Stephen R.
Colgate, head of the Department of Justice's Justice Management
Division, today announced the appointment of Mark Boster as
Deputy Assistant Attorney General (DAAG) for Information
Resources Management (IRM).
     In this role, Boster will oversee the management,
acquisition and integration of the Department's information
resources, including automated data processing, telecom-munications,
 office automation, computer security, data management and end-user
computing.  
     "Boster brings 20 years of management, organizational
development and project implementation experience to his new
position at Justice," Colgate said.  "Boster will have a pivotal
role in the development of IRM policies, programs and standards
that will provide support to the Department's diverse law
enforcement and litigation responsibilities."
     Boster has been the Department's Director of Telecom-
munications since February 1994 and Acting DAAG for IRM since
April 1995.  As Director of Telecommunications Services, Boster
managed an annual budget in excess of $80 million and was
responsible for planning, directing, and providing oversight to
the Department's data and voice networks.  
     Prior to joining the Department, Boster served in the
private and public sectors as Vice President of Operations for
the Postal Buddy Corporation and as Assistant Administrator for
Information Systems Management for the Farmers Home
Administration.
