The Litigation II Section (Lit II) is responsible for civil antitrust enforcement, competition advocacy, and competition policy in the areas of:
Defense: Lit II reviews its defense industry mergers in conjunction with the Department of Defense and with the applicable military branch affected by the proposed transaction or joint venture.
Banking: In its review of banking mergers, Lit II works with the Federal Reserve Board, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
Regional economies: In any review of transactions affecting regional economies, Lit II works closely with the relevant state attorneys general.
Highway Construction: Lit II has implemented a screening system for use by the state departments of transportation in their evaluation of the competitive effect of mergers in the highway construction industry.
