On behalf of the Global Development and Environment Institute (GDAE) at Tufts University, please accept the following comments to the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Department of Agriculture on Agriculture and Antitrust Enforcement Issues in Our 21st Century Economy (74 Fed. Reg. 165 43725-43726). We hope that these comments, based on (and including) our new working paper, “Buyer Power in U.S. Hog Markets: A Critical Review of the Literature,” will prove helpful as the DOJ and USDA convene the fourth hearing in Colorado on concentration in the livestock industry.
Sincerely,
Timothy A. Wise and Sarah E. Trist
