Kingston ACTIVITY REPORT OFFICE OF TRUST RECORDS May 1 - 31, 2007 PROGRAMMATIC: Labat-Anderson (Labat Indexing Project) Labat reported that indexing of 1,128 boxes of inactive Indian records was completed in May 2007. The total number of boxes completed through May 2007 is approximately 156,660. Movement of Records The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and Office of the Special Trustee (OST) moved 2,475 boxes of inactive records from various field locations to Lenexa, Kansas, for indexing and subsequent storage at the American Indian Records Repository (AIRR) during this reporting period. Site Assessments Statement During the month of May, OTRA performed 4 records assessments at the following locations: Uintah & Ouray Agency (BIA), Uintah & Ouray Agency (IIM), and NBC, Office of Appraisal Services - Southwest Region andRocky Mountain Region. OTRA issued 11 final records assessment reports for OST ­ Principal Deputy Special Trustee; Budget, Finance & Administration (Washington, DC); Deputy Special Trustee - Field Operations; Trust Accountability Office; Special Trustee, Immediate Office (Washington, DC); Trust Services Office; External Affairs Offices (Albuquerque and Washington, DC); NBC, Office of Appraisal Services - Northwest Region; NBC, Deputy Chief Appraiser’s Office (Washington, DC); Shiprock Agency (BIA); and Chinle Agency (BIA). Records Training OTR provided records management training for 105 BIA, 13 OST and 10 Tribal records contacts. OTR provided training on vital records for 237 BIA, OST and Tribal employees. Equipment 130 pieces of fireproof filing equipment were delivered to B/A, OST and Tribal offices in May 2007. Litigation Support and Research Requests OTR continued to provide significant support to the Office of the Solicitor, Office of Historical Trust Accounting and its contractors, and the Department of Justice and its contractors. AIRR staff provided responses to 200 research requests from BIA, OST and other requesters. ADMINISTRATIVE: General administrative activities continued. GENERAL OBSERVATIONS: None.
