Kingston ACTIVITY REPORT OFFICE OF TRUST RECORDS November 1-30, 2009 PROGRAMMATIC: • Indexing OTR staff completed indexing of 1,160 boxes in November 2009. The total number ofboxes completed through November 2009 is approximately 196,905. • Movement of Records The Bureau ofIndian Affairs (BIA) and Office ofthe Special Trustee (OST) moved 571 boxes of inactive records from various field locations to Lenexa, Kansas, for indexing and subsequent storage at the American Indian Records Repository (AIRR) during this reporting period. • Site Assessments Statement During the month ofNovember, OTRA performed two records assessments, one each at the following locations: Warm Springs Agency BIA office and Warm Springs Agency OST 11M field office. OTRA issued six records management assessment reports, one each at the following locations: Seattle OST 11M field office; Olympic Peninsula Agency BIA office; Olympic Peninsula Agency OST 11M field office; Northern Cheyenne Agency OST 11M field office; Crow Agency OST 11M field office; and Rocky Mountain OST 11M field office. • Records Training In November 2009, OTR provided records management training for 50 BIA records contacts. OTR provided training on vital records for 42 BIA employees. • Litigation Support and Research Requests OTR continued to provide significant support to the Office of the Solicitor, Office of Historical Trust Accounting and its contractors, the Department of Justice and its contractors, and tribal attorneys and their contractors. OTR continued to receive requests for information regarding litigation-related document requests. Many ofthese requests have very short deadlines. During November 2009, OTR AIRR staff provided responses to 223 non­litigation research requests from BIA and OST. 1 ADMINISTRATIVE: General administrative activities continued.
