Kingston ACTIVITY REPORT OFFICE OF TRUST RECORDS September 1 -30, 2009 PROGRAMMATIC: • Indexing OTR staff completed indexing of 1,083 boxes in September 2009. The total number of boxes completed through September 2009 is approximately 194,585. • Movement of Records The Bureau ofIndian Affairs (BIA) and Office ofthe Special Trustee (OST) moved 2,116 boxes of inactive records from various field locations to Lenexa, Kansas, for indexing and subsequent storage at the American Indian Records Repository (AIRR) during this reporting period. • Site Assessments Statement During the month of September, OTRA performed six records assessments, one each at the following locations: Lower Brule Agency BIA office; Lower Brule Agency OST 11M field office; Crow Creek Agency BIA office; Crow Creek Agency OST 11M field office; Pine Ridge Agency BIA office; and Pine Ridge Agency OST 11M field office. OTRA issued nine records assessment reports, one each at the following locations: NBC, Office of Appraisal Services, Southern Plains Region; Pine Ridge Agency BIA office; Pine Ridge Agency OST 11M field office; Fort Berthold Agency BIA office; Fort Berthold Agency OST 11M field office; Crow Creek Agency BIA office; Crow Creek Agency OST 11M field office; NBC, Office of Appraisal Services, Eastern Oklahoma Region; and NBC, Office of Appraisal Services, Great Plains Region. • Records Training In September 2009, OTR provided records management training for 35 BIA/OSTrecords contacts and 11 tribal employees. OTR did not provide training on vital records this month. • Litigation Support and Research Requests OTR continued to provide significant support to the Office of the Solicitor, Office of Historical Trust Accounting and its contractors, the Department of Justice and its contractors, and tribal attorneys and their contractors. OTR continued to receive requests for information regarding litigation-related document requests. Many of these requests have very short deadlines. 1 During September 2009, OTR AIRR staffprovided responses to 240 non­litigation research requests from BIA, OST and other requesters.
