On May 11, 2015, Edward Lugo was sentenced, in a 5K1.1 downward departure and court variance, to 21 months in prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release; no restitution was ordered. Lugo pleaded guilty in October 2011 to one count of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud charged in an October 2011 information. Lugo, who was employed by a government contractor in California, served as the scheme’s financial planner, and testified against all four defendants who went to trial as to the general operations of the conspiracy.

Defendant pleaded guilty on October 20, 2011.
