WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Department of Justice Community Relations Service (CRS) Director Sharee M. Freeman will be recognized as a special invitee at the world premier of Muhammad: The Legacy of a Prophet. The premier will be held on December 16, 2002, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ford Performing Arts and Community Center in Dearborn, Michigan, and is hosted by the Metropolitan Christian Council of Detroit, the Presbytery of Detroit, the Jewish Community Council, the Archdiocese of Detroit, the Islamic Center of Detroit, the National Conference for Community and Justice, the Muslim Unity Center, the Episcopal Diocese of Detroit, and the Muslim Center.
The Community Relations Service will also be recognized for its efforts in conducting a sustained information outreach and conflict resolution with Arab-American, Muslim, and Sikh communities since September 11, 2001. CRS has enjoyed great success in its conciliation activities, shedding light on the federal investigation process, and conveying community concerns to other U.S. Department of Justice officials.
The film's objective is to educate and inform religious, business, civic, and academic leaders about Islam, so they may use the documentary in diversity training. The film was produced by an interfaith team. For more information on the film, please refer to: www.pbs.org/muhammad, www.theislamproject.org, or www.unityproductions.info, or call 1-888-786-0444.
