Box 66738 Washington, DC 20035-6738 July 8, 1996 Re: File No. X ADA Complaint Against the City of Kannapolis Dear Mr. X : This letter is in reference to the complaint that you filed with the Department of Justice alleging a violation of title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by the City of Kannapolis. In your complaint, you alleged that the Kannapolis Municipal Building is located on the second floor of a building and is not accessible to disabled individuals. We notified the City of the complaint and requested information regarding your allegations. In turn, the City responded to this Office's request with appropriate information and documents. This office was recently informed that the Kannapolis City Council approved a new lease for accessible street-level offices. City employees are expected to move to the new facility in July 1996. Based upon the City's planned move to new offices, it appears that the issues raised by your complaint have been, or will soon be, resolved. Therefore, this Office is administratively closing its file in this matter as of the date of this letter.
