Box 1167 Franklin, West Virginia 26807 Re: Complaint Number Dear Ms. Ganshor: This letter is regarding the resolution of the complaint that was filed by concerning the Pendleton Courthouse, Franklin, West Virginia alleging violations of title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Title II prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability by State and local governments. Specifically, Mr. alleged that the Pendleton Courthouse was inaccessible to individuals who use wheelchairs. He stated that there was no ramp to the courthouse and that parking spaces were not available for persons with disabilities. You informed me on August 13, 1996, that the county renovated the Pendleton County Courthouse and that it is now accessible to individuals with disabilities. Specifically, there is a ramp that leads to the first floor from the street level. The county installed an elevator in the courthouse that provides access to the second floor and the basement. You also indicated that a parking space has been designated for individuals with disabilities. Based on the foregoing information we are closing our files in this matter, as of the date of this letter. The Department of Justice will take no further action in this matter.
