Vice President Joe Biden, Attorney General Eric Holder, Assistant Attorney General Laurie Robinson, and various distinguished guests gathered to honor this year’s Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor recipients awarded annually by the President to public safety officers who have exhibited exceptional courage, regardless of personal safety, in the attempt to save or protect human life.

Quoting the Attorney General during his address to the honorees letting them know that despite the challenges that remain and the threats our country faces, "Because of you and your colleagues, I’m optimistic about what we can accomplish in the days ahead. And I’m proud of each one of you."
“This award can not capture the full measure of our gratitude. And it can not heal the wounds of seeing colleagues suffer or, in some cases, make the ultimate sacrifice.
