As federal employees, DEA Special Agents are supported by a generous federal benefits package. Federal employees are eligible for health and life insurance, retirement benefits, annual leave, sick leave and paid Federal holidays. Retirement

DEA can take advantage of the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS), Law Enforcement Special Coverage (6c). Employees can retire at age 57 with 20 years of service and collect full retirement, or employees can retire at any age before 57 if they have 25 years of service. If retiring under the age of 57 and with between 20 and 25 years of service, employees must meet the Social Security Administration's minimum retirement age.

Salary

Your salary consists of federal Law Enforcement Officer base pay plus a locality payment, depending on where you are assigned upon successful graduation from the DEA Training Academy. In addition, 25% Law Enforcement Availability Pay (LEAP) will be added to your base and locality pay.
