Carolina Pharmacies
APR
16 -- (Columbia, SC) - Acting
United States Attorney Kevin F. McDonald
stated today that Andy Huynh, age 25, of
Charlotte, was indicted for armed robbery
and weapons charges. The indictment charges
that Huynh robbed the Walgreen’s
Pharmacy in Gaffney last December, and
the Lexington Walgreen’s Pharmacy
on Main Street last March, both at gunpoint.
Investigators allege that Huynh and two
unidentified accomplices brandished handguns
while they looted the pharmacies of stock
bottles of narcotics, including oxycodone
and hydrocodone products.
Mr.
McDonald stated the maximum penalty Huynh
could receive for each robbery is a fine
of $250,000 and imprisonment of 20 years.
The weapons violations carry consecutive
penalties of seven years in prison for the
first offense, and an additional 25 years
for the second offense.
Mr.
McDonald stated that the case was developed
by investigators from the Drug Enforcement
Administration and that he has assigned the
case to Assistant United States Attorney
Winston D. Holliday, Jr., of the Columbia
office for prosecution.
Mr.
McDonald advised that the charges in the
indictment are merely allegations, and that
all defendants are considered innocent until
proven guilty.
