Meriden Woman Sentenced to 15 Months in Federal Prison on Crack Distribution Conviction

June W. Stansbury, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcment Administration in New England and Kevin J. O’Connor, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that SONYA LUCIANO, age 31, of Paddock Avenue, Meriden, Connecticut, was sentenced today by Senior United States District Judge Peter C. Dorsey in New Haven to 15 months of imprisonment, followed by one year of supervised release, for using a telephone to facilitate the distribution of cocaine base (“crack cocaine”). LUCIANO pleaded guilty to the charge on February 13, 2007.

On October 4, 2006, a federal grand jury returned an Indictment charging LUCIANO and several other individuals with various narcotics offenses involving the distribution of cocaine and crack cocaine in and around Meriden.

LUCIANO has been released on bond since her arrest on October 6, 2006. She has been ordered to surrender to the Bureau of Prisons on July 12, 2007.

This investigation was a collaborative effort of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Meriden Police Department.
