Individuals Arrested On 20th Judicial
District Grand Jury Indictments for Drug-Related
Charges
DEC
22 -- (Boulder) - 14 individuals
were arrested today pursuant to charges
set forth in indictments which, depending
on the individual, range from violation
of the Colorado Organized Crime Control
Act, to distribution of a controlled substance
(cocaine and/or methamphetamine), possession
of a controlled substance (cocaine and/or
methamphetamine), and other drug-related
offenses.
The
arrests are a result of several grand jury
indictments issued by the Boulder County
Statutory Grand Jury on December 16, 2010.
The indictments follow a joint investigation
by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Longmont
Police Department, Boulder County Drug Task
Force, and the 20th Judicial District Attorney’s
Office.
Kevin
R. Merrill, Acting Special Agent in Charge
of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s
Denver Division said, “ DEA is committed
to working with our law enforcement partners
in Colorado, targeting major drug trafficking
groups operating in our state.”
District
Attorney Stan Garnett said, “The cooperation
between these federal and state agencies
serves as a great example of what can be
achieved when multiple agencies work together
toward a common goal. I’m proud my
office could be a part of the investigation,
and proud that my office will prosecute these
cases.”
Commander
Tim Lewis of the Longmont Police Department
said, “The Longmont Police Department
has worked on this case for over a year.
I am thankful for the incredible cooperation
of the DEA and the Boulder County Drug Task
Force. The cooperation between these agencies
is extraordinary and it has positively impacted
many citizens of Longmont and the surrounding
communities. I’m confident that our
work will add to making Longmont a better
place to live and work.”
