OCT 6 -- (Owensboro, KY) - U.S. Attorney David L. Huber of the Western District of Kentucky announced today that Gary L. Lear, of Greenville, Kentucky, was sentenced to 5 years and 3 months imprisonment in United States District Court, for possession with the intent to distribute fifty grams or more of methamphetamine. Joseph H. McKinley, Jr., U.S. District Judge in Owensboro, Kentucky, also sentenced Lear to 5 years supervised release following incarceration. There is no parole in the federal judicial system.

The sentencing stemmed from Lear’s guilty plea on June 3, 2008. On that date, Lear pled guilty to possession of 173 grams of a mixture containing methamphetamine.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Randy Ream, and it was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Kentucky State Police.
