Louisville Woman Indicted for Distributing Oxycontin
DEC 09 -- LOUISVILLE, KY - United States Attorney Candace G. Hill of the Western District of Kentucky announced today that on December 7 th, 2009, a federal grand jury in Louisville returned an indictment against Jina R. Chanvong, age 22, of Louisville, Kentucky, on charges of possessing with the intent to distribute Oxycontin.
The Indictment alleges that on August 26, 2009, Chanvong possessed with the intent to distribute approximately 77 Oxycontin pills with a street value of over $4,500.
In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties are 20 years imprisonment, a $1,000,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of no less than 3 years.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David R. Weiser, and it was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
Chanvong is scheduled to appear for arraignment before the United States Magistrate Judge on December 22, 2009, at 9:30 a.m., in Louisville, Kentucky.
