OCT 5 -- The DEA Miami Field Division sponsored the 1st Annual Federal Law Enforcement Charity Softball Tournament in south Florida. The tournament was held to benefit the family of slain Broward County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Christopher Reyka, and injured Deputy Maury Hernandez. Sergeant Reyka was killed in the line of duty on August 10, 2007, after an illustrious 18-year law enforcement career. Deputy Hernandez was critically wounded on August 6, while conducting a traffic stop. Eleven federal agencies participated in the tournament - DEA Miami Field Division, U.S. Marshals Service, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives/STOP Task Force, U.S. Secret Service, Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Internal Revenue Service, Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida, Federal Air Marshals Service and U.S. Coast Guard Investigative Service. The tournament raised $10,000 and the winning team was the ATF/STOP Task Force.
