Top Six Walgreens Pharmacies in Florida, Distribution Center Get
Closer Look from DEA

April 4 – (Miami) – The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Miami Field Office served seven Administrative Inspection Warrants to a Walgreens Corporation distribution center and its top six retail pharmacies located in Florida:

• Distribution Center: 15998 Walgreens Drive, Jupiter, FL
• Walgreens #04391, 2501 Virginia Ave, Fort Pierce, FL
• Walgreens #04727, 4950 S. US Hwy 1, Fort Piece, FL
• Walgreens #03629, 12028 Majestic Blvd., Hudson, FL
• Walgreens #03836, 9332 US Hwy 19, Port Richey, FL
• Walgreens #03099, 1525 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL
• Walgreens #06997, 785 Lockwood Blvd., Oviedo, FL

“This latest regulatory action continues DEA’s effort to rid Florida of the prescription drug abuse epidemic. DEA is concerned about the recent significant rise in the number of oxycodone tablets purchased by Walgreens in Florida,” said DEA Special Agent in Charge Mark R. Trouville.

All DEA Registrants are subject to an inspection to ensure they are following federal laws and regulation of the Control Substance Act relating to the proper distribution of control substances. Every DEA Registrant has the responsibility to maintain effective control to prevent the diversion of control substances. All DEA Registrants at the wholesale level must have a system in place that detects and report suspicious orders to the DEA, and at the pharmacy level, all registrants must ensure all prescriptions are filled for legitimate medical purposes. These administrative actions are to determine if these pharmacies are dispensing controlled substances outside of the scope of their registrations and in violation of federal laws and regulations.
