DEA-New Jersey DEARA Hosts Golf Outing
On May 05, 2006, the DEA New Jersey Division under the auspices of the Drug Enforcement Administration Recreation Association (DEARA), hosted the 2006 Golf Outing fundraiser and raised $10,000 for “The Epilepsy Foundation of America”, New Jersey/New York Chapter.
The event was organized and funds donated to the “The Epilepsy Foundation of America”, New Jersey/New York Chapter in the name of TinaMarie Johnson, who is the daughter of Angela Johnson a DEA New Jersey Division Office Assistant. DEARA 2006 Golf Committee member SA Tom Germano, organized the 2006 Golf Outing along with others from the division.
The New Jersey DEARA is a non profit association created to provide support to its members, primarily DEA employees and their families, in times of despair or of celebration, e.g., death, illness, or a birth. Typically, DEARA sends flowers, cards, fruit baskets, or donations to the families. Also participating in DEARA are members representing other law enforcement, including Task Force Officers and HIDTA teams.
The golf outing produced a total of 144 golfers in all. Funds were raised through Hole Sponsorships. A total of 48 Hole Sponsors stepped up to the tee. In addition, donations of company products were obtained for prize raffles, as well as monetary donations.
Acting Special Agent in Charge Brain F. Donga stated “Today is a great day for a great cause…. He also applauded all that participated and volunteered for this worthy event.
