LEADERSHIP

Brian R. Crowell began his law enforcement career as a Special Agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in 1988.

Mr. Crowell was first assigned to DEA’s largest field office, the New York Division, where he aggressively pursued violent, high-level narcotics traffickers and money launderers and worked with his partners from the New York Drug Enforcement Task Force (NYDETF) to dismantle drug trafficking organizations across the United States and the globe.

In 1997, Mr. Crowell was promoted to Group Supervisor in the NYDETF where he led a team of New York Police Department Detectives, New York State Police Investigators, and DEA Special Agents conducting nationwide and international investigations. As a result, multiple drug trafficking organizations were dismantled with arrests, multi-million dollar cash seizures, and RICO homicide indictments.

In February of 2002, Mr. Crowell was transferred to the DEA Headquarters Special Operations Division and assigned to the Special Projects Section. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Crowell was promoted to Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Special Projects Section where his team supported DEA, FBI, and ICE operations worldwide. Mr. Crowell’s leadership was commended by the Office of the Attorney General for exhibiting a true partnership of law enforcement and intelligence gathering techniques that exhibited future emerging counter-terrorism strategies.

In September 2005, Mr. Crowell was assigned to the New Haven District Office as Assistant Special Agent in Charge, where he oversaw all DEA Task Force operations within Connecticut and Rhode Island. Working with his law enforcement partners, he developed an effective enforcement strategy, inclusive of specific community action groups and substance abuse professionals to proactively attack the drug threat.

In March 2011, DEA Administrator Michele M. Leonhart promoted Mr. Crowell to the Senior Executive Service as the Special Agent in Charge of the DEA New Jersey Division. As Special Agent in Charge, Mr. Crowell was responsible for the daily operations of the New Jersey Division and leading the men and women of the division in the mission of the DEA.

In August, 2012 Mr. Crowell was assigned to be the Special Agent in Charge of the New York Field Division which includes the New York Drug Enforcement Task Force, the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Strike Force, the New York Field Division, Westchester Resident Office, Long Island District Office, Albany Resident Office, Plattsburgh Resident Office, Syracuse Resident Office, Buffalo Resident Office and Rochester Resident Office.

Mr. Crowell received his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and is a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute. He is married with one child.
