DEA Joins City of Phoenix to Unveil Resource Guide to
Accompany Crystal Meth Education Video

AUG 23 – Phoenix- Educators at the Phoenix Preparatory Academy will be the first to utilize the new resource guide to accompany the city’s crystal methamphetamine education video “METH: don’t even start.” The community/media unveiling event is at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at Phoenix Prep, 735 E. Fillmore St.

Elizabeth Kempshall, Special Agent in Charge of the DEA’s Phoenix Field Division will join Mayor Phil Gordon, Vice Mayor Dave Siebert, Councilman Tom Simplot along with educators and 800 students from the school to view the video and participate in classroom discussions using the resource guide. Former Arizona Cardinal Bill Lewis and John E. Lewis, Special Agent in Charge with the Federal Bureau of Investigation-Phoenix Division, also will attend.

Earlier this year, all junior high and high schools statewide were mailed a copy of the “METH: don’t even start” video, a joint production of city channels PHX11 and know99. The next step was to develop a resource guide to facilitate classroom discussions based on the messages and student reactions from the video. In September, all Arizona junior high and high schools will now receive the resource guide, along with the video on DVD.

Sponsors are the Arizona Credit Union System, Phoenix Police and Fire departments, United Phoenix Fire Fighters Association and the Arizona Cardinals. The public can get more get information and download the resource guide at phoenix.gov/meth or www.justthinktwice.com.
