MAYBELL’s conspiracy conviction carries a penalty of mandatory life imprisonment. MAYBELL is set for sentencing on May 2, 2011. MAYBELL, who previously pled guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and one count of distribution of crack cocaine is currently serving a sentence of 240 months’ imprisonment. Five co-defendants have previously been sentenced for their roles in the conspiracy. Two additional co-defendants have pled guilty and are awaiting sentencing.
The investigation was conducted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Murphysboro Police Department, Illinois State Police, Southern Illinois Enforcement Group, Carbondale Police Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration. In addition, the Jackson County States Attorney’s Office assisted throughout the investigation.
