EAST ST. LOUIS, IL. - Stephen R. Wigginton, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced that on July 11, 2011, Corey King, a 34-year old Crestwood, Missouri man, pled guilty to one count of Conspiracy to Distribute and Possess with the Intent to Distribute 50 grams or more of Crack Cocaine,. Sentencing is set for October 28, 2011 in East St. Louis, Illinois. At sentencing, King face penalties of 10 years’ to life imprisonment; a fine of up to $4 million, 5 years’ mandatory supervised release, and a $100 special assessment.

Corey King was indicted along with six other individuals and charged with being a member of a crack cocaine distribution organization in Madison, Illinois. Between 2009 and 2010, King purchased at least seven grams of “crack” twice a week from a co-conspirator and then sold the crack to his own customers for a profit.

The investigation was conducted under the auspices of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), with the Drug Enforcement Administration as the lead agency. The OCDETF initiative is designed to bring federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and resources together to identify, target and dismantle large national and international drug trafficking organizations.
