Sparta Woman Faces Five Years
in Prison for “Meth” Case

SEP 14 (EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill.) The Drug Enforcement Administration and Federal Prosecutors today announce that a Randolph County resident was sentenced on a one-count indictment, charging conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine.

Bonnie L. Wahl, a/k/a Bonnie Biesterfeld, 45, of Sparta, IL, was sentenced to 60 months in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release, and was fined $300. The conspiracy offense occurred between December, 2009 and May, 2011, in Jackson and Randolph Counties. At her plea hearing, Wahl admitted that she provided pseudoephedrine pills to others for the manufacture of methamphetamine. At sentencing, the District Court found that Wahl was responsible for the manufacture or distribution of more than 500 grams of methamphetamine.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Chester Police Department, Murphysboro Police Department, Illinois State Police and Drug Enforcement Administration.

The case was assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Amanda A. Robertson for prosecution.
