DEA Response to Club Drug Trafficking

International/National Response

  • Identify and prioritize club drug trafficking organizations and their surrogates responsible for the manufacture, importation, and distribution of these drugs into the United States.

  • Disrupt and dismantle the command and control networks, the operations, and the resource base of these drug trafficking organizations by conducting sophisticated, multi-agency investigations

  • DEA Country Attachés will coordinate investigative efforts with foreign host counterparts through intelligence sharing and technical assistance.

DEA Local Response

  • DEA Field Divisions will identify the rave clubs that facilitate drug trafficking and abuse in their areas of responsibility. They will also determine the resources necessary to target these clubs and/or the respective owners or promoters.

  • DEA Headquarters will be responsible for coordinating the allocation of necessary financial, technical and manpower resources to assist in the investigation of rave clubs that are facilitating drug trafficking and abuse.

  • DEA, in close coordination with state and local counterparts, has attempted to reduce illegal rave activity through enforcement of juvenile curfews, health and fire code ordinances and various licensing requirements.

  • DEA, in cooperation with state and local law enforcement partners, will continue to investigate major local Ecstasy and club drug traffickers and develop these cases with the goal of identifying the full scope of their organization and their source of supply.
