New
York Drug Enforcement Task Force Seizes Approximately 800 Kilograms of
Cocaine In Bronx, New York
Anthony
P. Placido, Special Agent in Charge of the New York Office of the United
States Drug Enforcement Administration, announced today the arrest of
3 individuals and the seizure of approximately 800 kilograms of cocaine
in the Throggs Neck section of Bronx, New York.
On the
evening of January 16, 2003, members of the New York Drug Enforcement
Task Force comprised of law enforcement officers from the DEA, NYPD and
NYSP observed suspicious activity during their presence in the Throggs
Neck section of the Bronx. Surveillance was initiated and further investigation
lead to the arrest of three individuals Wilfredo Tineo, Christobal Paulino,
Jose Perez and the seizure of approximately 800 kilograms of cocaine with
an estimated street value of 16 million dollars.
Special
Agent in Charge Anthony P. Placido stated "This is yet another fine
example of the outstanding cooperation of federal, state and local law
enforcement agencies. This investigation was the result of keen observations
and coordination of the law enforcement agencies involved. The Drug Enforcement
Administration will continue in its mission to disrupt and dismantle major
drug trafficking organizations."
