Man Sentenced in Boston Cocaine Trafficking Case

SEP 24 -- BOSTON, MA - A Boston man was sentenced today in federal court for conspiring to distribute more than 5 kilograms of cocaine.

Kevin L. Lane, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration - New England Field Division and United States Attorney Michael J. Sullivan and, that AQUILES TEJEDA, age 45, of Roslindale, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge George A. O’Toole to 70 months’ imprisonment, to be followed by 5 years of supervised release. TEJEDA pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute more than 5 kilograms of cocaine on May 22, 2008.

At the earlier plea hearing, the prosecutor told the Court that had the case proceeded to trial, the Government’s evidence would have included the testimony of a co-defendant, several drug seizures, and voluminous conversations recorded pursuant to court authorized wire taps that would have proven that, from April to October of 2004, the defendant was a regular customer of a cocaine trafficking organization in the Hyde Park section of Boston. TEJEDA regularly purchased ¼ kilograms and whole kilograms of cocaine for prices up to $23,500 which he re-sold to customers in and around Boston. The defendant was arrested in October of 2004, following the arrests of his co-defendants and the seizure from them of almost 60 kilograms of cocaine.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
