Kentucky Drug Dealer Sentenced to Five Years for
Manufacturing Marijuana Plants
- Second Marijuana Felony Conviction
-228 Plants Valued at $456,000

AUG 20 -- PADUCAH, KY - U.S. Attorney David L. Huber of the Western District of Kentucky announced today that Glenn F. Rizzie Jr., a/k/a Steven J. Jackson, age 54, Murray, Kentucky, was sentenced on Thursday, August 14, 2008, to five years imprisonment in United States District Court, Paducah, Kentucky, for conspiracy and aiding and abetting in the manufacture of marijuana plants. United States District Judge Thomas B. Russell, also sentenced Rizzie to four years supervised release following incarceration. Rizzie previously plead guilty on May 14, 2008 to conspiracy and aiding and abetting in the manufacture of marijuana plants.

On March 21, 2006, after receiving a tip about a marijuana grow operation, officers of the Kentucky State Police identified a marijuana grow operation in Calloway County constituting of 228 marijuana plants. A path led from the marijuana grow site to the property of Rizzie. After processing, it is estimated the marijuana from the plants would have a street value of $456,000.

Previously in 2000, Rizzie plead guilty to Production of Marijuana in Reynolds County, Missouri (case number CR897-128F) and received 3 years probation for that offense.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Madison Sewell and Michele Thielhorn, and it was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Kentucky State Police.
