Kentucky Man Charged with Trafficking in Large Quantities OCT 8 -- LOUISVILLE, KY - U.S. Attorney David L. Huber of the Western District of Kentucky announced today that a federal grand jury in Louisville returned an indictment against Jose Pizarro of Louisville, Kentucky, for possessing methamphetamine powder for distribution. The Indictment alleges that on August 9, 2008, Pizarro possessed 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, with the intent to distribute the substance. The street value of the methamphetamine involved in this case is approximately $50,000. In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties are life imprisonment, a $4,000,000 fine, and lifetime period of supervised release; and the minimum potential penalties are 10 years imprisonment and supervised release for a period of 8 years. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas W. Dyke, and it was investigated by the Meade County Sheriff’s Office, the Bullitt County Drug Task Force and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Pizarro is scheduled to appear for arraignment before the United States Magistrate Judge on October 14, 2008, at 9:30 a.m. in Louisville, Kentucky. The indictment of a person by a Grand Jury is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
