Sentencing and Indictment for Oxycodone Distribution

AUG 01 -- Mark R. Trouville, Special Agent in Charge, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Miami Field Division, and R. Alexander Acosta, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, announced that Mahmoud Krecht, owner of Wellington Discount Pharmacy in Wellington, (Palm Beach County) FL, was sentenced to 210 months in federal prison for his role in the distribution of over 400,000 oxycodone tablets outside the course of professional practice as a pharmacist. Oxycodone is a Schedule II narcotic. Krecht also agreed to forfeit $1 million in U.S. currency, representing the profits from the sale of the pharmaceutical drugs. Co-defendants who distributed the oxycodone in Palm Beach County, FL, New Jersey, and elsewhere were also sentenced. Vincent Anthony Montesano was sentenced to 101 months in prison, and Michael Joseph Marchese was sentenced to 72 months in prison. Both forfeited the proceeds they obtained from the sale of oxycodone.

The evidence recovered in this investigation resulted in a new indictment filed on June 12, 2008, in West Palm Beach, FL, naming additional co-conspirators in the distribution of oxycodone tablets. They are Joseph Lamberti, Theresa Marchese, Russell Waddell, and Stanhope Gosman. The investigation is continuing. Mr. Acosta commended the investigative efforts of the DEA.
