Release [print friendly page] Three West Tennessee Residents Indicted on Federal Drug Charges
OCT 9 -- Jackson, TN - Three individuals from West Tennessee were charged by a federal grand jury in two separate indictments on September 21, 2009 for violating various federal drug statutes, announced Lawrence J. Laurenzi, United States Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee. The indictments were unsealed after all of the defendants were arrested and taken into federal custody. Stephen Cox, 24 of Bolivar, Tennessee, Charidy Daniel, 29 of Bolivar, Tennessee, and Clyde Braddock, 43 of Bolivar, Tennessee, were charged with conspiracy to distribute and unlawfully and intentionally possess and distribute cocaine base (crack cocaine), in violation of Title 21, USC, Sections 841 and 846. Violations of these statutes carry penalties of not more than 20 years imprisonment. According to the indictments, the defendants would obtain cocaine and aid each other in distributing the cocaine in the Western District of Tennessee. The indictment further notes that the defendants developed a market and supplied users with the illegally obtained cocaine and collected the proceeds of the illegal drug sales for their personal benefit. This indictment’s resulted from a three month investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Bolivar Police Department and the Whiteville Police Department.
