JUL 08 -- Steven W. Derr, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration for New England and Nora R. Dannehy, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that CYRIL WEBB, 37, of Sigourney Street, Hartford, pleaded guilty today before United States District Judge Stefan R. Underhill in Bridgeport to one count of possession with the intent to distribute more than 50 grams of cocaine base (“crack cocaine”).

According to documents filed with the Court and statements made in court, on May 1, 2008, Hartford Police officers drove into a parking lot located on Charlotte Street in Hartford after receiving information that drug dealing may be taking place there. WEBB spotted the officers as he was exiting his own vehicle and began to run. The officers followed WEBB and apprehended him after he fell to the ground. A subsequent search of WEBB’s person revealed approximately 484 grams, almost one-half kilogram, of crack cocaine in his pants pocket.

Judge Underhill has scheduled sentencing for September 25, 2009, at which time WEBB faces a maximum term of life imprisonment and a fine of up to $4 million.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Hartford Police Department.
