AUG 03 -- Steven W. Derr, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration for New England an Nora R. Dannehy, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that PIERRE LANGLOIS, 32, of Wallingford, was sentenced yesterday, July 29, by United States District Judge Mark R. Kravitz in New Haven to 60 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for conspiring to distribute cocaine base (“crack cocaine”).  LANGLOIS pleaded guilty to the charge on February 25, 2009.

According to documents filed with the Court and statements made in court, on several occasions in the spring of 2006, LANGLOIS was intercepted over a court-authorized wiretap engaging in narcotics-related conversations with Milton Roman, who was the target of a federal investigation.  During the course of the conspiracy, LANGLOIS purchased between 20 and 35 grams of crack cocaine from Roman, which he distributed to others in the Meriden and Wallingford area.

On October 4, 2006, a federal grand jury returned an Indictment charging Roman and 34 others with various narcotics trafficking offenses.  On May 22, 2007, a grand jury returned a separate Indictment charging LANGLOIS and four others.  LANGLOIS was incarcerated in state custody when he was charged federally and, on July 17, 2008, he was sentenced in state court to time served on a conviction for first degree escape.  LANGLOIS has been detained in federal custody since December 18, 2008.

On December 13, 2007, Roman pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to distribute 50 grams or more of crack cocaine and five kilograms or more of powder cocaine.  He awaits sentencing and faces a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 20 years.

This investigation was a collaborative effort of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Meriden Police Department.
