Hartford Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Federal Prison for Trafficking Heroin

AUG 20 -- Steven W. Derr, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration for New England Nora R. Dannehy, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that ANDRES BOLANOS, 28, of Mapleton Street, Hartford, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Alvin W. Thompson in Hartford to 121 months of imprisonment, followed by five years of supervised release, for trafficking heroin.  On June 23, 2008, BOLANOS pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute, and to distribute, more than one kilogram of heroin.

According to documents filed with the Court and statements made in court, during the course of Drug Enforcement Administration-led investigation, BOLANOS was intercepted over a court-authorized wiretap agreeing to provide large quantities of heroin, which he had received from suppliers in New York, to distributors in Hartford.  BOLANOS also sold heroin to his own customers.

BOLANOS has agreed that, during the course of the conspiracy, he was involved in the distribution of approximately 12 kilograms of heroin.

BOLANOS has been detained since his arrest in May 2007.

This investigation was a collaborative effort of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Hartford, East Hartford, Manchester and Southington Police Departments assigned to the Hartford DEA Task Force.
