AUG 20 -- BOSTON, MA - A Mattapan man was sentenced to 92 months in prison for being a felon in possession, following an altercation at movie theater.

Steve W. Derr, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration, Boston Field Division; Acting United States Attorney Michael K. Loucks; Glenn N. Anderson, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives - Boston Field Division; and Police Commissioner Edward Davis of the Boston Police Department announced today that DARIUS MANOR, age 29, of Mattapan was sentenced yesterday to 92 months in prison, to be followed by 36 months of supervised release, by U.S. District Court Judge George A. O’Toole after being found guilty by a federal jury in January 2009 of a single count Indictment charging MANOR with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

On January 18, 2008, MANOR, who had previously been convicted of a federal drug felony, possessed a Smith & Wesson 9 millimeter pistol and eight rounds of ammunition. Specifically, the evidence at trial showed that on January 18, 2008, after two patrons at the Loews Theater on Tremont Street across from Boston Common complained to MANOR’S girlfriend about her talking loudly during the movie, an altercation ensued during which MANOR pulled a loaded gun on the two men in the crowded theater. MANOR then led police on a foot chase outside the theater, until he was ultimately arrested, following a long struggle with police officers.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Boston Police Department.
