Springfield Man Pleads Guilty to Drug Charge

SEP 23 -- BOSTON, MA - Two Andover men pleaded guilty today in federal court of manufacturing methamphetamine in a residence in Andover.

Steven W. Derr, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration - Boston Field Division Acting, United States Attorney Michael K. Loucks, and Chief Brian J. Pattullo of the Andover Police Department announced today that JAY KEOUGH, age 43, and RYAN EMMETT, age 31, both of Andover, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Joseph L. Tauro to manufacturing methamphetamine.

At today’s plea hearing, the prosecutor told the Court that had the case proceeded to trial the Government’s evidence would have proven that beginning in early 2008, and continuing through their arrest on March 25, 2009, KEOUGH and EMMETT knowingly manufactured methamphetamine in a clandestine laboratory that they built in a residence located at 487 Lowell Street in Andover.

Judge Tauro scheduled sentencing for December 16, 2009. KEOUGH and EMMETT face up to 20 years imprisonment, to be followed by 3 years of supervised release and a $1,000,000 fine.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Andover Police Department.
