friendly page] Indianapolis Cocaine Trafficker Sentenced to 12 Years
JUN 5 -- (Indianapolis) An Indianapolis drug trafficker has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison. Manuel Mascorro-Guerrero, 56, Indianapolis, Indiana, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Sarah Evans Barker following his guilty plea to conspiracy to distribute cocaine. Mascorro’s guilty plea is the result of a three-month investigation by the U. S. Drug Enforcement Administration offices in Indianapolis, El Paso, Texas, Cincinnati, and Akron, Ohio in partnership with the Indianapolis Metro Police and Indiana State Police. The investigation revealed that between July 20, 2007 and August 29, 2007, Mascorro was the leader of an Indianapolis-based cocaine trafficking organization. Mascorro’s organization obtained its cocaine from several different sources in the El Paso, Texas area and then transported the cocaine from El Paso to Indianapolis by truck drivers. After the cocaine arrived in Indianapolis, members of the organization delivered the cocaine to customers in Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Akron, Ohio. Mascorro supervised the distribution of approximately ninety to one-hundred kilograms of cocaine in Indianapolis and Cincinnati during that five-week period. “This investigation is an example of how far the tentacles of illegal drug trafficking extend into the Midwest United States,” stated Gary G. Olenkiewicz, Special Agent in Charge of the DEA’s Chicago Field Division which covers the state of Indiana. “We are grateful to our partners at the United States Attorney’s Office, the Indianapolis Metro Police and Indiana State Police who all worked tirelessly along with DEA to bring Mascorro’s organization to justice.” According to Assistant U. S. Attorney Bradley A. Blackington, who prosecuted the case for the government, Mascorro is subject to 3 years supervised release upon completion of his term of imprisonment and will be deported from the United States to Mexico following his release.
