Crack Cocaine Dealer Indicted in Bardstown, Kentucky
-Michael Edwards facing potential life in prison

FEB 02 --Louisville, KY - Candace G. Hill, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky, announced today that a federal grand jury in Louisville returned an indictment against Michael Edwards, age 28, of Bardstown, Kentucky, on charges of possessing with intent to distribute, and distributing crack cocaine. The Indictment alleges that on three occasions in May and June of 2008, near Bardstown, Edwards sold crack cocaine totaling over 100 grams. The street value of cocaine is approximately $100 per gram.

In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties are life imprisonment, and an $8 million fine. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney J. Scott Davis, and the investigation was conducted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Edwards is scheduled to appear for arraignment before the United States Magistrate Judge on February 17, 2009, in Louisville, Kentucky.

The indictment of a person by a Grand Jury is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
