FEB 11 -- Acting U.S. Attorney Candace G. Hill of the Western District of Kentucky announced today that Jamesy Havens, age 32, of Louisville, Kentucky, was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months imprisonment in United States District Court, Louisville, Kentucky, for illegally distributing anabolic steroids. U.S. District Judge John G. Heyburn, III, also sentenced Havens to 3 years supervised release following incarceration. There is no parole in the federal judicial system.

Havens previously pled guilty to conspiring with his wife, Crystal Knuckles, and others, to distribute anabolic steroids throughout the Louisville metropolitan area between January 2007 and May 2008. Anabolic steroids are Schedule III controlled substances. Cyrstal Knuckles has also pled guilty and is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Heyburn on April 8, 2009, at 11:30 a.m.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David Weiser, and it was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
