MAY 11 -- LOUISVILLE, KY - Acting U.S. Attorney, Candace G. Hill, for the Western District of Kentucky, announced today that a federal grand jury in Louisville returned an indictment against Damon Lee Simpson, age 48, and Roger Daniel Simpson, age 41, both of Louisville, Kentucky, on charges of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine, and cultivating marijuana.

The six-count Indictment alleges that on February 11, 2009, in Meade County, Kentucky, Roger Simpson and Damon Simpson engaged in a conspiracy to possess and distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and 500 grams or more of cocaine. The indictment further alleges the defendants aided and abetted each other in the manufacturing of 100 or more marijuana plants.

In the event of a conviction, each defendant faces a maximum potential penalty of life in prison, a combined fine of $16 million, and supervised release for life.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mac Shannon. The case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Kentuckiana Criminal Interdiction Unit (KCIU), and the Meade County Sheriff’s Office.

Defendants are scheduled to appear for arraignment before the United States Magistrate Judge on May 19, 2009, at 9:30 a.m., in Louisville, Kentucky.
