JUN 02 -- LOUISVILLE, KY - Acting U.S. Attorney Candace G. Hill of the Western District of Kentucky announced today that a federal grand jury in Louisville, Kentucky, returned an indictment on June 1, 2009, against Willie Caudle, age 60, Mark Roth, age 43, and Ronnie Houston, age 45, all of Louisville, on charges of conspiracy to distribute heroin.

The Indictment alleges that on March 12, 2009, in Jefferson County, Kentucky, the defendants conspired to intentionally distribute and possess with intent to distribute heroin, a Schedule I controlled substance. In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties are twenty years imprisonment, a $1,000,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of three years.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Larry Fentress, and it was investigated by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Louisville Metropolitan Police Department.

The defendants are scheduled to appear for arraignment before the United States Magistrate Judge on June 17, 2009, at 9:30 a.m., in Louisville, Kentucky.
