friendly page] Kentucky and Georgia Men Indicted for Conspiracy to Distribute Crack Cocaine
- Joint investigation by DEA and Paducah Police Department JUN 10 -- PADUCAH, KY - Acting United States Attorney Candace G. Hill of the Western District of Kentucky announced today that a federal grand jury in Paducah returned an indictment on June 9, 2009, against Robert Hines, age 31, of Smyrna, Georgia, and James Martin, age 33, of Paducah, Kentucky, on charges of possession with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of cocaine base. The Indictment alleges that on October 7, 2008, and also on March 19, 2009, Hines and Martin, each aided and abetted by the other, intentionally possessed with intent to distribute more than fifty grams of cocaine base, also known as "crack" cocaine. In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties are life in prison, a $4,000,000 fine, and supervised release for life. The minimum potential penalties are ten years imprisonment and supervised release for a period of five years. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Larry Fentress, and it was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the Paducah (KY) Police Department. Hines and Martin were scheduled to appear for arraignment before the United States Magistrate Judge on June 10 th, at 9:30 a.m., in Paducah, Kentucky. * * * The indictment of a person by a Grand Jury is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. |
