Owner of Motorcycle Shop and Second Man Plead Guilty to Meth Distribution
- Kentucky men face minimum 5 years in federal prison

AUG 26 -- PADUCAH, KY- Charles Trent Willett, age 35, and Kevin Wayne Sawyer, age 51 both of Mayfield, Kentucky, pled guilty to distributing methamphetamine, Acting United States Attorney Candace G. Hill of the Western District of Kentucky announced today.

Willett admitted that on four dates from July 12, 2007, to October 25, 2007, he sold more than fifty grams of methamphetamine to a person working undercover for the Kentucky State Police and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Sawyer admitted selling more than five grams of methamphetamine to the same person on July 24, 2007. The two men sold methamphetamine from the motorcycle shop Sawyer owned in Graves County, Kentucky.

Willett faces a maximum potential penalty of 160 years imprisonment, a $4,000,000 fine, and lifetime supervised release. Sawyer faces a maximum potential penalty of 40 years imprisonment, and a $1,000,000 and lifetime supervised release. Both defendants face a minimum potential penalty of 5 years’ imprisonment and 4 years of supervised release.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Michele Thielhorn and Terry M. Cushing, and it was investigated by the DEA and the Kentucky State Police.

The pleas were entered before Thomas B. Russell, Chief Judge, United States District Court, Paducah, Kentucky. Willett and Sawyer are scheduled to be sentenced before Chief Judge Russell on December 9, 2009, at 12:00 p.m., in Paducah, Kentucky.
