JAN 30 -- (Houston, Texas) Kenneth HEBERT, 38, of Pearland, Texas, was sentenced in the Southern District of Texas, by United States District Judge Dave Hittner. HEBERT was charged and found guilty of Conspiracy to Possess with the Intent to Distribute Anabolic Steroids. His wife Leticia ZAMORA was charged with Conspiracy to Possess with the Intent to Distribute Anabolic Steroids and Conspiracy to commit money laundering. ZAMORA is scheduled for Trial in March.

Kenneth HEBERT was sentenced to 48 months in prison and 3 years supervised release.

On February 20, 2007, The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) with the assistance of the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, executed a federal search warrant at Kenneth HEBERT and Leticia ZAMORA’s Pearland residence. The search resulted in the discovery of the largest clandestine steroid lab in the history of the Drug Enforcement Administration, Houston Field Division. Subsequent to the search, Both Kenneth HEBERT and Leticia ZAMORA were arrested.

This investigation was part of an international case dubbed Operation Raw Deal, which targeted the global underground trade of anabolic steroids, human growth hormone (HGH) and insulin growth factor (IGF). Operation Raw Deal represents the largest steroid enforcement action in U.S. History and took place in conjunction with enforcement operations in nine countries worldwide. The Internal Revenue (IRS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC) also played key roles in the investigation.

The DEA Houston Field Division encourages the use of their toll free number 1-877-DEA 1070 to report dishonest Pain Clinics and Pharmacies, Questionable Practitioners and Illegal Internet Sites.
