Seattle Resident Sentenced to 10 Years Prison
Conspirators Shipped Kilograms of Cocaine to Alaska

MAR 6 -- (Anchorage, AK) – DEA Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Arnold R. Moorin and United States Attorney for the District of Alaska, Karen Loeffler, announced that on March 5, 2009, Calvin T. Dunbar, a resident of Seattle, Washington, was sentenced in federal court in Anchorage to 120 months imprisonment for conspiring to distribute cocaine. Following completion of his prison sentence, Dunbar will be on federal supervised release for five years. As part of his sentence, Dunbar was also ordered to forfeit $186,000 to the United States.

According to information presented to the court, in June 2008, Dunbar conspired with Robert Jones and others to distribute nearly ten kilograms of cocaine and crack, which Jones and his co-conspirators had shipped to Anchorage from the lower 48. At the time of their arrest, Dunbar was in possession of over $186,000, which proved to be illegal drug proceeds.

On February 27, 2009, Jones was sentenced in federal court in Anchorage to 144 months’ imprisonment for conspiring to distribute cocaine.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Alaska Interdiction Task Force.
