Two Men Indicted by Federal Grand Jury for Heroin Conspiracy

SEP 17-- (Anchorage, AK) – DEA Acting Special Agent in Charge Mark C. Thomas and the Acting United States Attorney Kevin Feldis announced that on September 16, 2009, Hugo Enriquez of San Diego, California, and Fabian Quepons of Anchorage, Alaska, were indicted by a federal grand jury in Anchorage on one count of drug distribution conspiracy.

According to the indictment, Enriquez and Quepons entered into a conspiracy to distribute over 100 grams of heroin in Alaska. It is also alleged that Quepons and Enriquez conspired to ship a package containing the heroin, using Federal Express, from California to Anchorage.

The law provides for a maximum sentence of 40 years imprisonment for conspiracy to distribute more than 100 grams of heroin, a $2,000,000 fine, and up to four years supervised release following service of a prison sentence. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offense and any criminal history of the defendants.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and the Anchorage Police Department conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
